EQUIP PROJECT

In 2017, PEFO started a partnership with Gered Gereedschap, with focus of promoting and professionalizing craftmanship, and strengthening technical/ vocational trainings in Jinja region through a project known as “EQUIP”.  The project works towards achieving Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship (3Es) for youths, by equipping technical and vocational classrooms; provision of low-cost tool kits and equipment for learning; providing scholarships to vocational students, master-apprentice programmes, entrepreneurial guidance, and microcredits; and establishing rental and refurbishing workshops.

To date, the project has patterned up with at least 14 technical and vocational institutions both private and government through PEFO. It has trained (10) youths as trainers of trainees (TOT) in tools refurbishment and workshop maintenance, and (1) in shoe making. There has been also establishment of three workshops that is to say; - refurbishment workshop, rental workshop and shoe workshop all located at PEFO Premises in Jinja and Njeru-Buikwe district, to ensure smooth running of the project.

Equipping the vocational and technical institutes provides opportunities for vocational Skilling for instance in carpentry, welding, tailoring, motor mechanics, plumbing, among others.
